Purpose
- Emergency Warning Systems are an essential component in emergency planning and preparation:
- When faced with a natural or man-made threat, organizations need to quickly reach large numbers of people.
- Emergency Warning Systems allow organizations to broadcast alerts, updates, and provide guidance throughout a crisis.
- To be effective, a system must be designed with the power and reliability to acoustically alert the entire area, and the flexibility to integrate with other alert communications channels.

Value
- When a threat risks a community, campus, or facility, a rapid response is crucial. The Emergency Warning System:
- Provides real-time crisis management.
- Immediately broadcasts alerts across the entire coverage area.
- Allows people to prepare, react, maximize safety, and mitigate loss.

Operation
- Once a threat is recognized, the system is activated, and alerts are immediately broadcast to the coverage area.
System Activation
The system can be activated:
- Centrally – From an operations post using the MassAlert Control Station or REACT 5000 Central Control Unit.
- Remotely – From any location using the MassAlert Web Portal/Mobile App or REACT 5000 Mobile Central Control Unit.
- Locally – Directly from any outdoor/indoor/mobile speaker deployment equipped with a Local Operations Console.

Alert Broadcast
The system can send tone alerts, pre-recorded voice messages, or live PA. Alerts are broadcast using:
- High-Powered Speaker Stations – Powerful outdoor/indoor/mobile speaker stations are strategically located to ensure that intelligible alerts and information reach the entire coverage area.
- Integrated Platforms – The system supports integration with additional warning systems, such as Integrated Public Alert and Warning System (IPAWS).
